How to Stop your Batteries Leaking in your Flashlight

There's nothing worse than picking up your trusty flashlight, opening up the battery compartment and discovering that the batteries have leaked!

Not only do leaking batteries cause a huge mess, they can also easily ruin your flashlight. However, you can avoid this problem by using these steps...

1. If you rarely use your flashlight, then remove the batteries and store them somewhere else - when you are ready to use the flashlight then you can put them in.

2. If you have an emergency flashlight stored somewhere, always inspect and test the batteries on a regular basis.

3. If your flashlight is using depleted batteries, always swap them out for fresh ones and never mix old and new batteries.

QUICK TIPS:

• Dead batteries should never be left in any equipment.
• Live batteries have a date on them for a reason. Often with today's LED technology, for example, the batteries will corrode through and start leaking long before they become too weak to run the flashlight.
• If your flashlight is part of a crash kit where you need batteries with the device at all times for emergency use, store them in a separate Ziploc bag and check their dates periodically as well as for leakage.
